Training Tracker · version 2026-08-29
RowingTools Tracker is a training log run by one person as a side project. It is free, it is not a medical or coaching service, and your training log is yours. This page says what is stored, who can see it, and what you can expect of us. It is written to be read, not to be impressive.
| What | How it works |
|---|---|
| Your log | Private to your account. Nobody else, including other RowingTools users, can read your sessions, lifts, notes or dates. |
| Squads | Joining a squad puts your totals on that squad's board: days trained, session counts, erg metres and time, core time, weights sets and volume. Never a session, a lift, a date or a note. Leaving the squad takes them straight back off. |
| Erg photos | A photo of an erg monitor is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to be read, and is not kept afterwards. The numbers it reads are saved to your log. |
| Sample mode | Using the tracker without an account stores everything in your browser on that device. Nothing is sent to us until you create an account. |
| Deleting | Email us and your account and everything in it is deleted. There is no copy kept. |
| Selling data | No. Not to anyone, ever, in any form. |
RowingTools Tracker ("the tracker") is part of rowingtools.co.uk, run by an individual in the UK. Using it means agreeing to this page. If you do not agree with it, do not create an account.
The tracker is provided as it is, for free, with no promise that it will be available, that it will keep working, or that it will still exist next season. Keep your own record of anything you would be upset to lose. You can export your exercise library from the Templates tab at any time, and you can ask for a copy of everything else.
You need an email address and a password. You must be 16 or over, or have a parent or guardian agree on your behalf. Give a name that your crewmates will recognise, because that is what appears to anyone in a squad with you.
Keep your password to yourself. If you think someone else has it, change it from the sign-in page. Do not use the tracker to store anything about other people without their say-so.
Accounts and training data are held in a Supabase project (PostgreSQL, hosted in the EU) with row-level security, so a query for your data authenticated as anyone else returns nothing. Stored against your account:
The site uses Google Analytics on page views, and a Brevo form if you subscribe to results emails. Neither is connected to your training log.
If you use the tracker without an account, everything you log is stored in your browser's local storage on that device and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser data deletes it and there is no way to get it back. Creating an account uploads what is there to your new account; that is the only time it leaves the device.
A squad is a group of people who can see how much training each other is getting through. Joining a squad is what puts your totals on its board. Everyone in it can see your display name and these numbers, for the window they pick (this week, four weeks, twelve weeks, all time):
They cannot see an individual session, an individual lift, a date you trained, a note, or anything the erg photo reader produced. This is enforced in the database, not just in the app: the board is built by a function that never reads those columns.
Anyone with a squad's six-character code, or an invite link containing it, can join that squad and will then see the totals of everyone in it. Treat the code like a door key. The person who created a squad can remove anyone from it. Leaving a squad removes your totals from its board immediately, and removes anything you posted to it.
If you photograph an erg monitor, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API, which reads the numbers off it and returns them. The image is not stored by us and, under Anthropic's API terms, is not used to train their models. Only the numbers are saved, to your log. Do not photograph anything you would not want processed by a third party in this way: point the camera at the monitor, not at people.
Photo reading is a paid feature. Typing sessions in by hand is free and always unlimited.
Logging weights, erg and core sessions, squads, and everything else on this page is free. If a paid tier is introduced, you will be told before anything is charged and nothing you already have will be taken away from you retrospectively.
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of everything held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email feedback@rowingtools.co.uk from the address on your account and it will be done. Deletion is deletion: the account and every session, exercise and squad membership attached to it are removed, and there is no archive copy.
The legal basis for holding your training data is the contract of providing you the tracker. Data is kept for as long as your account exists.
Do not attempt to read other people's data, script the API, load-test the site, or use the tracker to harass anyone. Accounts doing any of that will be removed.
The tracker is a notebook, not a coach. Nothing in it is medical, nutritional or coaching advice. Train sensibly and take advice from people who can see you. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for injury, lost data, missed training, or any indirect loss arising from using it. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
These terms may change. The version date is at the top of this page, and the date you agreed is stored on your account. If a change materially affects what is shared or what is stored, you will be asked again rather than told quietly.
feedback@rowingtools.co.uk. It is one person, so give it a day or two.
